Pinewoodin historia alkoi Ruotsissa 1997, kun Rainer Rüssel rekisteröi tuotemerkkinsä ja aloitti liiketoiminnan äitinsä kellarissa. Perheenjäsenet auttoivat pakkauspuuhissa yön tunteina, palkkana pelkkä halaus. Sittemmin yritys on kasvanut, pysyen kuitenkin vielä pienyrityksenä.
