Old growth forest: preserve, protect, care, stop, look and listen. 10% of the profit for forest preservation!
Artist-designer Tuuli Sotamaa’s graphic works illustrate Metsä/Skogen’s new Ikimetsä clothing collection, which supports the “Elämää ulkona” forest project!
Regarding the creation of the Hirvi (Moose) artwork, Tuuli shares the following: “I was sitting early in the morning in one of my favorite forests. The sun filtered through the branches of old spruce trees and gently touched my face. Nothing in this landscape was in a hurry - fallen trees rested in place, and the moss-covered mounds were soft and inviting. Here and there, I saw grasses, mushrooms, and insects, with the light outlining everything. From the dark shadows of the forest, a moose appeared before me, majestic like a sculpture. I remained silent, and my own sense of time stopped. I felt as though I had stepped into the middle of nature’s own play and watched as animals appeared on the mossy stage in their festive attire. From this theatrical moment, the piece ‘Encounter (Moose)’ was born.”

Scandinavian Outdoor and Metsä/Skogen have joined forces with customers, partners, and their own contributions to raise donation funds for the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation. Our main goal is to protect the diverse natural forests of Finland.
You, too, can help ensure that life continues to thrive in the diverse forests, shores, and swamps of Finland. The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation offers a concrete, direct path to conservation. The Metsä/Skogen clothing collection is designed out of love for diverse forests. When you wear products from this collection, you know you belong to the tribe of forest friends. 10% of the collection’s proceeds go through the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation to support forest conservation work for the “Elämää ulkona” forest.
The shirt print is made with water-based WBI inks (Waterbased Ink), which meet all sustainability and environmental requirements. The prints feel comfortable to wear and don’t cause sweating, unlike transfer prints and those made with plastisol inks. The printing screens are washed using an environmentally friendly automatic screen washer.
Tuuli Sotamaa is not only an artist and designer but also an advocate for nature. She has grown up and lived surrounded by nature, observing plants and watching animals. She has sat quietly, looked animals in the eye, and seen trust or its absence reflected in them. She has absorbed the wordless stories of nature, which she interprets through her works.
