More emphasis has been placed on the durability of the upper, and both the surface and lining materials are more breathable. The overall weight is also slightly lighter. The Mesa Trail II midsole includes a 3.5 mm thick layer of TrailFoam. It offers a slight protectin effect for your foot, but overall, the Mesa Trail definitely has all the trademarks of a pure-bred barefoot shoe. The sole is thinner than it might appear from the side - the base is “bowl-shaped,” meaning the edges of the sole material are curved upwards.
