While the Trangia spirit burner is simple and reliable in itself (no moving parts, pressurization, no easily clogged jets), the gel burner is even simpler: it is an open aluminium tin. You simply insert some burning gel, and light it. The extreme level of simplicity carries on in the functions: there is no power adjustment.
