The Stratus R insulation found inside the baffles of the Stratus R prevent air from circulating between parts warmed by your body and parts in contact with cold outside air - this allows the pad to accumulate your body heat and stay warm all night long. The pad’s R value is 4.8, meaning it’s ready for year-round use. We recommend using the included pump sack to inflate the pad. If you were to inflate the pad by blowing, you’d introduce moisture to the insulation. The outermost baffles are thicker than the rest, helping you stay on the pad.
